After breaking all records with their Mega Moolah series Microgaming saw it fit to create another great series of progressive jackpot slots. This one was meant to be a collection of different slots, all linked to the central progressive jackpot. This in turn comes in different sizes, and it’s not only the main prize you’re after here. The WowPot series also relies on the appeal of different slot types, and these can for example use paylines, ways to win and even Megaways setups.
Surprisingly, this time around Microgaming hasn’t necessarily aimed for those Guinness World Record -breaking sort of jackpots. That’s not to say you’re not going to get your hands on progressive slots that can ultimately lead to wins counting in the millions. Rather, there’s a lot more going around in the department of game design, including plenty of smaller WowPots that you can win more often.
WowPot Jackpot Slots
This is of course a selection that keeps growing continuously. Not only by new slots from Microgaming but by slots from their partnered studios. This has already resulted in a good dozen different games to try out, which is considerably more than usually come with individual progressive jackpot networks. With time this selection is sure to grow into even greater numbers.
The jackpot itself is four-tiered, with every bet played on every WowPot slot contributing to all of these different pots at varying rates. Some of the money also goes into the seed sums, which are pretty considerable for the largest pot. Sufficient to say, the main win will always be counted in millions, and can grow substantial between hits.
As always, the method for scoring a progressive jackpot win is completely random. You simply play your rounds, enjoying the normal reelplay and special features that you encountered in the individual slots. And for every spin played there is a small chance of starting the jackpot bonus feature.
All WowPot Slots
There’s a wide variety of games, setups, themes, and special features available via the different WowPot slots. This is further reinforced by a variety of different teams working on the slots, adding in their own style and expertise in creating enticing progressive slots. Do notice that the RTP might be a bit lower than on standard slots, as those contributions simply go to the pots themselves.
Currently, our favourite WowPot Slots include the following games:
- 9 Blazing Diamonds
Medium variance and relatively high RTP lead the charge. The name reveals a rather classic theme, and the reels offer quite normal paylines and wins associated with those. But if that sounds too basic, check out the free spins with multipliers and instant wins that pay up to 10 000 times your bet. This game was designed by Spinplay Games.
- Sherlock and Moriarty
If it isn’t the most famous detective with his most famous nemesis at it again. Another five reeler with medium hit rate, and low overall bet rate. Mystery respins, free spins and mystery symbols make up to one intriguing slot by Just For The Win.
- Queen of Alexandria
Who would that be if not Cleopatra, which means that you get a lot of other shiny things on the reels associated with this theme. Five reels of three symbols each seek combinations via 10 paylines moving through the reels. In this game wilds launch respins whilst also expanding to cover entire reels, opening up possibilities for massive winning streaks. This game is the handiwork of Neon Valley Studios.
- African Legends
This one is from Slingshot Studios, another Microgaming partner. It does come with the usual 5×3 reel setup, but this time around the game uses ways to win mechanics instead of paylines. The game actually has a pretty similar theme to the legendary Mega Moolah but comes with a completely modern look. Rolling reels, Wild Blasts, and free spins ensure that the action is always superb in this online slot.
- Sisters of Oz
It’s not quite the usual take on this popular lore, but an interesting one nonetheless. You’ll find that the reels are a tad bit taller than normal, each five of them having four symbols. This comes with larger than normal symbols too, taking up several positions on each reel. The wins are calculated via paylines, with synchronising reels, up to ten free spins with scatters landing more, and all line wins doubled for the duration of the feature. This game was designed by Triple Edge Studios.
- Book of Atem
All41 Studios created this masterpiece for Microgaming, with high variance and a rather unique theme. The jackpot is not the only source of big wins, with free spins together with a mystical symbol that expands throughout the reels making sure there’s plenty of room to connect wins through the ten paylines.
- Wheel of Wishes
This was the very first WowPot slot to be released, back in 2020. It’s also one of the first games Microgaming’s partner Alchemy Gaming released under their platform. The game itself offers a bit of an ancient theme, mixed with a standard setup of reels and paylines. Besides the jackpot, you can enjoy Power Spins with added high-value symbols.
- Ancient Fortunes Poseidon WowPot Megaways
This is probably the most adventurous of all the WowPot progressive jackpots so far, as it adds the Megaways system into the game. The other slots mostly use the standard paylines. This means that the basic payouts can become quite extraordinary, thanks to unlimited win multipliers and 117 649 ways to win. Rolling reels, wilds, free spins and much more await in this Triple Edge Studios masterpiece.
And that’s the current selection in a nutshell. This catalogue is expanding pretty fast, with several games coming out each year. Compared to prior progressive jackpots this is considerably faster. That should tell you something about the popularity of these jackpots, which is another good reason to have a look.
How the WowPot Jackpot Works
The WowPot progressive jackpot can actually be triggered in different ways, depending on the game. Naturally, the chances of triggering are pretty much the same throughout the selection of slots that the jackpot is available in.
This can mean collecting jackpot symbols, triggering specific special features, or just by pure random chance during any regular spin. The size of the bet does affect your chance of scoring the jackpot, but the effect is minimal.
Once you do trigger the WowPot, based on any of these different conditions, you will be taken to a special Wheel of Fortune. This is a simple wheel divided into coloured segments. Once you spin the wheel it goes around and around, until finally stopping on one of the segments, awarding one of the following pots:
- WowPot – Starts at 2 000 000
- Major Jackpot – Starts at 50 000
- Minor Jackpot – Starts at 100
- Mini Jackpot – Starts at 10
Take note that the above sums are in €, which is the main currency used for the pots. When applicable, this will be converted to NZD. Also, these are only the seed sums at which each pot starts. As is the case with progressive jackpots, for each and every bet made by players a small bit is reserved to increase each of the jackpots. The average win for the WowPot is around 13 million NZD, which is quite enough to rival pretty much any other progressive jackpot currently available.
WowPot Slots FAQ
- Does Microgaming itself produce any of these games?
Microgaming has pretty much outsourced its game production to its partner studios, which are semi-independent entities. On top of this, it seems that the company itself has or is in the process of selling its whole gaming collection. This means you might see WowPot games under some other brand soon enough.
- Where can I find the WowPot games?
Take a look at our suggested Microgaming casinos to get started, as they are sure to be present in these online casinos. Given how prevalent Microgaming is in general, you can most likely find these games in all of our NZ online casinos.
- Is the WowPot linked to Mega Moolah progressive jackpots?
Though they are run by the same company, these two pooled jackpot networks are completely separate.
- Is there a limit to how big the WowPot can grow?
Technically no, and the more players play the game the faster it grows. However, the more players play it the sooner it is likewise going to hit. It might yet challenge the records held by the company and has gotten quite close to them already.
- If I win the jackpot do I have to pay taxes?
New Zealand casino players do not have to pay any sort of tax for winning in gambling games, and that’s exactly what a jackpot is. Get ready to enjoy the whole sum you’re going to score in this game!
